Spanish National Honor Society

Activities and Service:
Service Opportunities:

As a service-oriented society, each of our members has many opportunities to gain service hours and benefit the community throughout the year. Some events are spontaneous, others we continue to attend year after year. One old favorite of Capítulo Cela is the Houston International Festival. Held every April, we generally have dozens of students volunteer every year to work in the sales booths, refreshment stands, or wherever else they are assigned. We also enjoy many other annual events. Often, service opportunities just come up throughout the year (thanks to our officers who are in charge of locating possible activities), and we go to events such as walkathons, cultural celebrations, etc. Each member is required to perform 8 hours of service per semester (see Sra. Jenkins for specifics). To print out a service hours documentation form, click here.

Aside from service opportunities, we also conduct many chapter events. We also have a fundraising activity for senior scholarships (see membership benefits). Officer elections are during March. Capítulo Cela also has regular social, non-service events, such as trips to local Spanish food restaurants, etc. To see this year's schedule of upcoming events, go to the Calendar. PLEASE REMEMBER SCHOOL-APPROPRIATE DRESS CODE.
Every other Wednesday at 7:00 AM, we have our chapter meetings (the other Wednesdays, Spanish Club meets). Meetings are pretty much standard: anouncements, bulletins, sign-up sheets, attendance, newsletters, etc.
